Are you inside the city limits?
Plenty of Forney addresses sit in unincorporated Kaufman County. Devonshire and Travis Ranch are outside the city limits. Gateway Parks is inside. In or out decides who picks up your trash, who bills your water, and whether you pick your electric company.
Trash day changes by street
Community Waste Disposal serves the city. Use their View My Schedule lookup for your day. Curb by 7 a.m., trash and recycling together.
You may not get to shop for electricity
Oncor areas (downtown, north of US-80, Gateway) choose a provider at PowerToChoose.org. Trinity Valley and Farmers Electric are co-ops: the co-op sets your rate. PowerToChoose shows offers for every 75126 address, so check your utility first.
City hall is three buildings
Open Mon to Thu, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., closed Fridays. 402 N Bois D'Arc St is Utility Billing (972-552-6620). 401 Pinson Rd is City Hall. 101 E Main St is the Annex: permits, planning, council. Fence permit is Main Street. Water bill is Bois D'Arc.
Lots of errands are county business
Forney is in Kaufman County. Register to vote with Kaufman County Elections (469-376-4595). Vehicle registration goes through the Kaufman County Tax Office.
Check schools by exact address
Forney ISD zones shift as new campuses open. Use the attendance zone lookup at forneyisd.net instead of going by your neighbor.

Forney ISD's first day was Aug 12, 2026. Check your campus by exact address at forneyisd.net.
Forney ISD fall break is a full week in mid-October. Falloween takes over downtown in late October.
The Forney Turkey Trot 5K runs in early November. No school Thanksgiving week (Nov 23 to 27).
Bell Park Tree Lighting and Christmas on Main kick off the holidays downtown. Winter break runs Dec 21 to Jan 1.
Forney ISD spring break is Mar 8 to 12, 2027.
School ends May 20, 2027. Movies at the Park and the Spellman Amphitheater concerts run May into June.
