4th of July in Forney

Every summer, Forney throws its Independence Day celebration around Forney Community Park and the Spellman Amphitheater, and every summer the same questions pop up on the local pages: when is it, where do I park, and can I shoot my own fireworks? Here is the evergreen answer sheet.

What Forney's celebration looks like

The City of Forney hosts an annual Independence Day celebration centered on Forney Community Park and the Spellman Amphitheater off FM 741. The formula stays familiar year to year: an evening of family activities and food vendors, live music on the amphitheater stage, and a fireworks show after dark as the finale. It is free to attend and it is the biggest single crowd Forney draws all year.

Exact dates, times, and lineups are announced by the City each June. When they drop, we post them on our events calendar, and the official details always live at forneytx.gov. Some years the event lands on July 4 itself, other years on a nearby weekend evening, so check before you plan the cookout around it.

Local tips for the night

Come early, park once. Parking around Community Park fills fast and traffic on FM 741 stacks up before the fireworks. Arriving in the late afternoon means an easy spot and a good patch of grass; arriving 30 minutes before the show means walking.

Bring the lawn setup. Chairs, blankets, and water. It is a Texas July evening, so plan for heat until the sun drops, and pack bug spray.

Give yourself time to leave. Everyone exits at once after the finale. Let the first wave clear, or plan a slow walk back and let the kids burn off the last energy at the playground.

Personal fireworks have rules. Fireworks are generally not allowed inside Forney city limits, and rules outside city limits depend on Kaufman County burn conditions that change year to year. Check the current rules at forneytx.gov before lighting anything, and leave the big show to the pros.

Make a full day of it

The celebration is an evening event, which leaves the whole day open. Hit a food truck park for lunch, cool off at home during the peak heat, then head to the park. If you are new in town, our Forney with kids guide covers the rest of the summer too.
