EVO broke ground in January on an 82,000 sq ft entertainment venue with nine theaters, 22 bowling lanes, an arcade, climbing, laser tag, dining and event space. EVO's official release says it is slated to open in fall 2026.

A $320 million, 62 bed acute care hospital. The building topped out in April 2026 and Texas Health has set fall 2027 for opening. Plans include an emergency room, surgical suites, labor and delivery, and advanced imaging.

City Council approved the site plan on Sept 15 (the city's own Council Wrap Up). Plans show an 8,202 sq ft restaurant with a 637 sq ft patio and 104 parking spaces on about 1.77 acres at Village at Gateway. The city's wrap-up adds the caveat itself: site plan approval is an early step and does not guarantee the restaurant gets built or opens. No opening date and no company announcement yet.

Goodwill Industries of Dallas is asking the city for a conditional use permit to run an 1,800 sq ft donation collection center on a 2.94 acre lot. Plans show drop-off at the side of the building using the existing drive-through lane, pickup at the rear, no retail sales and no outdoor storage. The permit has not been approved yet. Council held the public hearing Sept 15; the outcome is not in the city's wrap-up and minutes are not posted yet.

A state construction filing registered Sept 15 covers a $6.4 million tenant build-out of a 45,167 sq ft space plus a 2,955 sq ft mezzanine to be used as a health and fitness club under the EOS Fitness name. EOS is a big-box value gym with DFW locations in Garland, Dallas, Euless and DeSoto. The filing's Sept 2026 to Aug 2027 dates are estimates, not an opening date. EOS has not announced Forney.

A request to rezone 172.022 acres from Agricultural to a Planned Development Overlay District (case Z2026-15) goes to Planning and Zoning on Thursday Oct 1 at 6:30 PM, then City Council on Oct 20. Kaufman County MUD No. 5 is taking bids for a new 5 million-gallon-a-day lift station in Travis Ranch that replaces the existing one: new wet well, three submersible pumps, valve vault, emergency generator and demolition of the old station. The final plat splits 113.880 acres into two light-industrial lots (69.803 and 42.460 acres) and goes to City Council tonight, Sept 15. The plat's own owner's dedication names TWO owners of record: Amazon.com Services LLC and Forney Logistics Center, LLC, each holding its tract under a recorded Special Warranty Deed. The applicant is Seefried Properties (Seefried Industrial). Lot 1 matches the 1,255,975 sq ft building Seefried took to P&Z on Aug 6. Owning land and filing a plat is not an announced facility - no operator has announced anything here.

A site plan for a 6,888 sq ft BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse with a 1,250 sq ft outdoor patio and 129 parking spaces went before the Planning and Zoning Commission on August 6, 2026. City staff recommended approval. The 2.46 acre site is vacant today. This is the restaurant chain, not the BJ's Wholesale Club already open on the Gateway corridor. No opening date has been announced.

A conditional use permit for a new Brake Masters auto repair shop had its public hearing at the Planning and Zoning Commission on August 6, 2026, alongside a site plan. 📍 West of Helms Trail and south of Akron Way

Seefried Properties brought a site plan for a 1,255,975 sq ft light industrial building on 69.8 acres to the Planning and Zoning Commission on August 6, 2026. An earlier site plan from January 2021 had expired. The plan includes a 12 to 14 foot masonry screening wall along the homes to the southwest, based on a sound study, and a traffic impact analysis the city engineer has reviewed. Access is off Akron Way.

A revised site plan for a 9,969 sq ft building addition on the east side of the Forney Walmart, to expand the online order pickup area, went to the Planning and Zoning Commission on August 6, 2026. 📍 U.S. Highway 80, FM 460 east to just past the Buffalo Creek Relief structure

TxDOT's Dallas District has a registered project to reconstruct and widen this stretch of U.S. 80 from a 4-lane divided highway to 6 divided main lanes with continuous frontage roads. The state filing puts construction start at September 1, 2026 and completion at March 1, 2029, at an estimated $75,662,043. This is the main road through Forney and it will be under construction for about two and a half years.

TxDOT plans to rebuild this two lane rural road into a four lane divided roadway with raised medians, a wider Mustang Creek bridge, and a 10 foot shared use path on both sides. A public hearing was held April 16, 2026. Still in design, not under construction yet.
